The Diary of a Young Girl

Author: Anne Frank
Publisher: Bantam Books
Tags: Biography, Grade: 10, Grade: 11, Grade: 12

Anne Frank’s The Diary of a Young Girl is among the most enduring documents of the twentieth century. Since its publication in 1947, it has been read by tens of millions of people all over the world. It remains a beloved and deeply admired testament to the indestructible nature of the human spirit. Restored in this Definitive Edition are diary entries that were omitted from the original edition. These passages, which constitute 30 percent more material, reinforce the fact that Anne was first and foremost a teenage girl, not a remote and flawless symbol. She fretted about and tried to cope with her own sexuality. Like many young girls, she often found herself in disagreements with her mother. And like any teenager, she veered between the carefree nature of a child and the full-fledged sorrow of an adult. Anne emerges more human, more vulnerable and more vital than ever. Anne Frank and her family, fleeing the horrors of Nazi occupation, hid in the back of an Amsterdam warehouse for two years. She was thirteen when she went into the Secret Annex with her family.

This book was inspiring for all people to enjoy life while you still can. Anne shows that the tough and the best times can be the same. This story shows that you can have the cruelest life and still live for the next day. The bad things in life only make us stronger and more passionate for the next. People can now notice how good life really is and they don’t need to experience half the things the Frank family did. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to all people. It could be a great experience for everyone. Many people can connect to Anne’s life because she wrote with such passion and imagination. Overall this novel was great.

I think this book was very intense. Anne is a very brave girl for keeping this huge secret for two years. Not being able to make that much noise or have any friends over would drive me crazy. Being cutoff from the outside world would be very difficult. They were faced with boredom, hunger and a living situatin that rats could barely live in. It also took alot of work to keep there family together through this time because they were angry and full of hate because of the way they were living.

Anne Frank is a very interesting book. I was disapointed that some parts of the book were so boring. i liked how she said how she felt when she was hiding behind the bookcase. IT had a little to much inforamtion that ou had to remember but it was always good to know. I recommend this book to people who want to learn about Anne FRank and people who like to read books about peoples hiostory.

i love this book! i first read it in fifth grade and was moved by it. she writes with such honesty and you get a good feeling and understanding of what the Jewish people had to go through during WWII. she writes of the discrimination and sufferings the Jews had to go through and still lived with hope. i recommend this book to everyone.
